Things you need to know

Hosting an Event

In order to host / license an AAU event, you will need to have a Level 2 or Level 3 club first. Once your club is approved and you receive your club code, you'll be able to file your application to host the event. Don't have a club yet? Get started...

Participant Requirements

For any AAU licensed events, ALL participants including athletes, coaches, officials, and other related personnel MUST have an appropriate AAU membership.

Program Types / Age Groups

We offer both youth and adult programs. Select the Youth program if your activities involve ONLY youth athletes. Select the Adult program if your activities involve ONLY adult athletes. Select Both if you plan on having both youth and adult athletes participating in your event.

Event Contacts

All contacts for your event must have their own non-athlete membership in order to be listed and have access to manage the event.

Protection - Insurance Coverage

Your event license comes with the benefit of providing you with protection through a multi-million dollar sports accident and liability insurance policy while hosting an AAU licensed event.

Safety

The AAU takes safety for all of our members and volunteers very seriously. It is for this reason that ALL adult members must undergo a background check prior to being allowed to participate in an event. We also have a strong Concussion Policy and support the CDC's Heads Up program and encourage all participants to do so as well and take the available training courses.

The AAU

The AAU was founded in 1888 to establish standards and uniformity in amateur sports. During its early years, the AAU served as a leader in international sport representing the U.S. in the international sports federations. The AAU worked closely with the Olympic movement to prepare athletes for the Olympic games. After the Amateur Sports Act of 1978, the AAU has focused its efforts into providing sports programs for all participants of all ages beginning at the grass roots level. The philosophy of "Sports for All, Forever," is shared by over 670,000 participants and over 100,000 volunteers.
